"Fathers and Sons" is right up there am...Well said! "Fathers and Sons" is right up there among my favourite Russian novels, and though he Towers Over The Literary Landscape less than either Tolstoy or Dostoevsky, Turgenev appeals to me more as a novelist than either - even if his overall achievement was, perhaps, less than that of the terrible twosome.<BR/><BR/>Your last paragraph sums up what Turgenev does so well in this novel: clothes ideological and personal conflict in rounded flesh.Tim Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14856414700019368658noreply@blogger.com
